I am Professor of History at the Division of Social Sciences, Luleå University of Technology and researcher at the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment at KTH-Royal Institute of Technology. I have a PhD in History of Technology specializing in industrial heritage research. My research mainly focuses on the history of extractive industries, its interaction with science and geopolitics and its consequences for environments and communities. A related research topic is heritagization processes. Much of my research has been focused on the polar regions – the Arctic and Antarctic.
My research is situated at the interface between archaeology and history, based on the theoretical assumption that material objects and environments play an active role in society and therefore should be considered in explanations of historical change, and following this the methodological approach of combining archival studies with archaeological fieldwork.
At this website i inform about ongoing and previous research projects, publications (including downloadable field work reports), conference presentations as well as planned and completed field work activities.
